THE BIG BANG THEORY.

It will always be our favorite sit-com.  The Mister and I and two of our sons watched every episode over and over again as we hunkered down in an Ann Arbor, Michigan motel many years ago.  Scott’s wife. Sarah, had a serious case of H1N1 and was in the University of Michigan Hospital.  She recovered after three long months.  To our great joy and relief, of course.

During that time, reruns of The Big Bang Theory served as a trusted go-to comfort zone.  The characters became our best friends and we knew more lines by heart than any normal being ever should.  We especially loved Sheldon, who frequently said: “They say change is good but it never is.”

Well, Sheldon, I’m glad you’re not around right now.  Change....Great Big Change.... seems to be the order of the day. Every day.  Sometimes more than once a day. You wouldn’t like it, Sheldon.  Not even one little bit of it.

Most of us can’t absorb the magnitude of the changes which have come our way recently.  There’s no time to assimilate it into our minds and lives before there’s more on the table to deal with.  “High muzzle velosity” I think it’s called. Change becomes fact before we can fully understand consequence.

Perhaps the best we can do right now is hunker down, just like we did in Michigan, hang on for dear life and hope that, like Sarah, we and our country will recover.
